Assessment 5: inspirations

In terms of my inspiration I love looking left, right and centre of the field. I enjoy looking at things that are completely unrelated and seeing how I could somehow throw the essence of what makes that particular thing great and try and apply that to other things. So I have looked at a range of things for inspiration.

“Arch media”
Simple and bold
Use of soft grey and a bold red – the red catches your eye
The interesting slicing of the “A” is nice
The use of the arch reflects the company name, as does the “A” upon the arch.
The “A” implies that this company that deals with “media” is global…
The arch reminds me of the “Universal studios” title screen – the world turning and the sun rising… it seems to say that this company is like the sun…implying the company is confident and maybe in touch with modern technology

“Snoop Dogg: R&G; Rhythm & Gangster: the masterpiece”
The Importance of symmetry
The intricate use of font and the curves and curls – add interest
Nice use of contrast in size and thickness of font
I am intrigued by the choice of this elegant typeface as it contrasts with whom the poster refers to.
“Snoop Dogg” being a black American rapper who in some peoples opinion looks like a “druggy” or just not visually appealing due to his sloppy clothes and mannerisms – the contrast grabs my attention. The font itself appears to be manipulated and seems modern due to this juxta positioning of context – something not really seen before in history (due to the history of slavery and such) I am sure having his name printed in such an elegant, European, royalist type font is perhaps something to be admired, and noticed.

“Design21: Social Design Network”
Nice use of curves and geometric lines and how they contrast
Contrasting of line thickness
Monochromatic – nice and bold
“Social” reflected in the free and easy style of the scribble.
I also love the fact the scribble appears to be a metaphor for the “i’s” thoughts – as they are connected.

“Angus & Coote”
Mono-chromatic and classic in appearance
Classic serif font – gives a prestigious feel to it
Nicely framed – adds to the classic appeal
Reflects a hallmark of a jeweller and like a prestigious stamp

“KEGD”
Nice and bold font
Use of cursive, elegant, entwining font – the name entwines the company name – to imply the importance of the creator of the company.
The use of soft green tones contrasts nicely against the dark grey of the “KEGD”
Modern and confident in its execution

“Catalin Delatorre”
Nice delivery of identity via the colour and typeface of font
The use off image is interesting as well becoming the “o” in “Delatorre” – yet it may get lost if reduced?!
The typeface seems derived from the avante-guarde / art nuvuea period – and this gives a nice decorative and respected appeal.
I like the comparison of white and light blue – looks slick and non-offensive.
The graphic is nice and feminine which helps soften the logo and add to its allure.
